During the 16th century, the Portuguese brought the technique of producing candies to Japan and until today, Konpeito are a favourite candy in Japan.

The production of Konpeito takes several days and is done by pouring liquid sugar syrup over a moon seed. Even though we are in a high-tech world now, the production takes still several days and is mainly done by hand.
