La France is Yamagata Prefecture's western pear. Known as the ‘Queen of Fruits’, La France is regarded as the pinnacle of pear production due to its unique aroma and mild flesh.
Pre-cooling and additional ripening after harvesting gives it a noble aroma and elegant flavour. It currently accounts for about 80% of national production and is synonymous with Yamagata fruit.
