Kumamoto Watermelon (Suika)

Watermelons have been cultivated in Kumamoto since ancient times, and even today the prefecture boasts the largest production of watermelons in Japan, accounting for about one-fifth of the national share.
Watermelons are rich in vitamin A and have good diuretic properties, making them effective in treating heat exhaustion and rehydrating the body.
